CanalMX reports that Apple is set to release a newly version of the iPhone 4 that do not have the malfunction of the reception by the end of September. The iPhone 4 users were reporting a lot of issues as antenna issues which experienced when holding the device. Also users complained about a proximity sensor glitch which may not be fixed in iOS 4.1. Below is the Google Translation from Spanish,
He [Marco Quatorze, Telcel's Director of Value Added Services] also said that as of September 30 Telcel will be available in new devices that do not have the malfunction of the reception and explained that the company will have several options to make changes from one phone to another flawed not to take: “If the previous plan is over, you will need to hire a new change for iPhone 4. If, for example, already has one and take three months for payment, change the cell with a re-employment and takes into account the previous time, so instead of paying 24 months, only done in 21. “

The question of the case beyond the phone company that we hire, it is worth evaluating whether to purchase the first version of iPhone4 with all its flaws, or wait a month to be available the new version promises to vindicate the reputation of this controversial but attractive device, though no doubt there will be many users who are not willing to lose this dream so long Smartphone.
Last month Apple offered free bumpers for iPhone 4 users but it seems like a mistake as it damages the iPhone. Also, the iPhone 4 bumpers program ends by end of September, so is that an evidence for the truth of this story? But is that the only way to fix iPhone 4 issues? to make a new one! [via 9to5mac]

Intel Buys Infineon Wirless Unit With $1.4 Billion

Inter has recently confirmed the acquisition, long overdue, unity Wireless Solutions (WLS) of Infineon, a German company for $1.4 billion. This acqusition will allow Inter to continue the expansion in th production of chips for smartphones and mobile devices such as netbooks and tablet.
The acquisition is also very important to Apple that has long avoided in favor of Intel processors. For those Apple devices using the Infineon baseband and now becoming part of Intel will be improved further.

Since 2006, Intel processors are used on all Macs and its therefore it is not impossible that the next iPhone, iPad and iPod touch can rely on any dedicated new Intel product. The same company has already declared that all mobile devices that seek to ensure full access to the Internet should be based on Intel technology.

Yes, you read it write! Now you can downgrade the annoying new iOS 4.0.2 to iOS 4.0.1 or iOS 4, without having your SHSH blobs saved. YES! without SHSH blobs. The tip was sent to us by one of our readers who wishes to remain anonymous, we made some tests and we got our conclusion at the end of the post.
Step 1: Download the iOS 4.0.1 from here, download iTunes from here.
Step 2: Extract it with Winrar or Winzip to a folder on the desktop. You may need to rename the firmware file from .ipsw to .zip to be able to extract.
Step 3: Open buildmanifest.plist file from the extracted files using Notepad (for Windows) or TextEdit (for Mac OS X) Search and replace all – 8A306 with 8A400. Do the same with restore.plist file and save both of them.
Step 4: Now download iOS 4.0.2 and extract it using Winrar or Winzip.
Step 5: Drag all files extracted files from iOS 4.0.1 and replace them with all files of iOS 4.0.2.
Step 6: Delete all ".dmg" files that end with 002 leaving files that end with 001. Then zip the new customized firmware and change it to ".ipsw" file, for example "downgrade.ipsw".
Step 7: This step is option, it helps you to ensure you get an SHSH file request for the future, but should not be necessary to just restore 4.0.1
  • Locate "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\" for Windows and "/etc/" directory for Mac, then locate “hosts” file and Open it in Notepad (for Windows) or TextEdit (for Mac OS X) then add this line at the bottom of the file and save it.

Step 8: Connect your iPhone to your PC / Mac and launch iTunes (downloaded above)
Step 9: Now, put your iPad in DFU mode by following this steps,
  • Connect your iPad to your computer.
  • Turn iPad off.
  • Start iTunes.
  • Hold Power and Home buttons together for 10 seconds or so.
  • Release Power button but keep holding the Home button until your computer recognizes a new USB device.
  • iTunes will now recognize your iPad.
Step 10: Almost done, you will have to restore your iPhone to the firmware you have customized and saved in the above steps by Clicking on iPhone icon that appears in the left of iTunes then hold left “alt” button or “Shift” button on Windows from the keyboard and click on “Restore” then release the alt button. You will be promoted by a window to select the firmware, select your firmware file "downgrade.ipsw" you have made in the previous steps.
Step 11: After series of processes, iTunes will restore your device to the required firmware.

Now, You will be finally able to jailbreak and unlock your device using our guide posted here to jailbreak and unlock any iPhone.

[Thanks Anonymous for the tip]

Update 1: While downgrading from iOS 4.0.2 to iOS 4.0.1 / 4.0, users may face error 1015 in iTunes, use Error 1015 Fixer (download here) to bypass from this error.

Update 2: Here's the modified .ipsw file that you should restore to for iPhone 3GS users It is a 4.0.2 firmware bundle, with the 4.0.1 files inside (as instructed) After restoring you will be at 4.0.1. it can be downloaded from here.

Update 3: If you got stuck in recovery mode, just use Recboot 1.1, our guide posted here.

Update 4: Just got all the modified firmwares for iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G,
iPhone 4 http://www.mediafire.com/?7i4zjgv41h1ql
iPhone 3GS http://www.mediafire.com/?fzi76aw20t5sc
iPhone 3G http://www.mediafire.com/?uur4hp6cl12x8

[Thanks Behzad for uploading the files]

Update 5: Well, here's a quick explain why it don't work for all. Users who reported of this method being working for them had at some point in past saved their SHSH files on Cydia, we can't say this method is fake, but it's pretty not working for people who don't have SHSH files on Cydia. Notcom explains on his blog..
There is much discussion on many blogs about a potential means of downgrading iOS 4.0.2 to 4.0.1 by simply changing a couple values in the buildmanifest.plist and copying all of the images from 4.0.1 into 4.0.2 and then deleting the files ending with 002. Following all of this, perform a DFU restore and somehow you will be on 4.0.1.
There is a perfectly logical explanation for all of this and I will lay out exactly what is happening and explain why it is working for the folks that are the lucky ones.
Let me get this out first.
  • This is not a miracle, at least not in the sense you all hope for
  • SHSHs are STILL required for any iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPod Touch 3G, and iPod Touch 2G (MC Model)
  • There is NO way around this… unfortunately this method included.
Let me start by explaining something very important. The buildmanifest is used by iTunes to build much of the TSS request that is used to obtain your SHSH for any given firmware revision. Unfortunately, the BuildNumber has no part to play in the request for SHSH. All that you ended up doing in following these directions is request 4.0.1 SHSH blobs.THAT IS ALL. Since every single one of you that got this to work changed your hosts file to point to Cydia, Cydia responded to the TSS request with an SHSH blob that was ALREADY "on-file". There was no magic. There was no miracle, apart from the lucky break that your device had been put on Cydia’s SHSH request list at some time in the distant past.
That’s it in a nutshell folks. There was no amazing technique for bypassing Apple’s TSS. There was no amazing exploit that exists in DFU mode allowing for 4.0.2 -> 4.0.1 downgrading. It’s simple; Cydia had your SHSH because at sometime in the past either:
  • Someone saved your SHSH with that device using TinyUmbrella and the default options
  • Someone restored that device with Cydia in the hosts pointing to gs.apple.com
  • Someone jailbroke the device and pressed ‘Make my life easier’
Yes, wait, wait and wait!

Apple Spokeswoman: No Fix for Proximity Sensor Issues Patched to iOS 4.1

When the iPhone 4 was launched, there were a series of issues. First, and the most important is antenna issues when you hold the iPhone, but also iPhone 4 owners complained of a proximity sensor issues that results hanging up of calls or mysterious button presses that would mute or invite another person into the call. There were some reports that proximity sensor issues will be fixed in the final iOS 4.1 release which expected next week.
Steve Jobs last month said the sensor problem would be fixed in a future software update, but this hasn’t yet appeared. Apple Australia spokeswoman Fiona Martin has acknowledged that the company has yet fix the proximity sensor issue, but iPhone 4 users will be surprised when they download the update, only to find the issues are still there. Why Apple Should Stop Its War Against Jailbreak ?

Last week we reported that Apple applied for a patent which designed to specify the jailbrking and/or unlocking devices or removal of SIM card from a phone so the device will be disabled. Apple has also released a new iOS which only for patching the jailbreak hole, but the Dev-Team fired this back announcing that they will be able to disable the new patent.
I think Apple should stop wasting these big efforts in this war, Apple should ask,Why iDevices users interested in jailbreak? , the answer is that the jailbreak allow them to access to a growing number of apps which not supported by the App Store, specially (tethering and pron apps), but simply, just like tethering apps can be controlled by mitigating the tethering usage be AT&T or whatever the carrier is, with a metered data plans, also, when it comes to porn and anything else users could access, Apple can simply say "We don't support that garbage" maintain its policy that jailbreaking automatically void warranties.

Last reason of why Apple should stop its war against jailbreak is the revenues from the App Store which like a drop in the bucket compared to Apple's overall bottom line.which means that jailbreak (Cydia) will not affect Apple revenues.
Finally, after discussing these major items, I think it is quite logical that Apple shall stop the war against jailbreak. [via jkontherun]

No one can deny the importance of "Twitter Edit Button", But can Twitter really make it?
The real question is Would it be technically possible? Yes, Twitter is working on "Annotated Tweets" feature which allows you to annotate a tweet with structured metadata. Also, Twitter has the ability to undo tweets. In brief, Twitter can make just a simple edit button but it may not be for long periods! So Twitter, how about an Edit Button?

Facebook Says, There are Only 44 Million Active Monthly iOS Users, not 104 Million

It was just a week ago when Facebook posted that there's over 150 million active monthly users on mobile platforms, 104 million of them were browsing Facebook on the service’s popular iPhone app. This was a rather false figure, Engadget got in touch with Facebook and has updated its figures saying that there are only 44 million active monthly iOS users not 104 million. Here's what they say,
There are currently 44 million monthly active users of the Facebook for iPhone app. We recently changed the definition of mobile active users to exclude those who have only liked or commented on stream stories. Instead we are counting “active” users as people who have taken explicit actions within an application. This practice is more aligned with how we count overall active users for the site.
Well, it still an impressive figure. In my opinion, the 44 Million active monthly users are using iPhone and iPod touch not iPad, as the Facebook app bugs a lot on the iPad.

New and Cool Features Coming to TinyUmbrella in the Future

Notcom, the developer behind TinyUmbrella which lets you enable save the SHSH blob so you can downgrade, (we have guide posted here for latest version) has posted a new post showing really nice and cool features will be added to TinyUmbrella in the future. He didn't mention anything about the release time but it's probably not in the next update.
Here's the fixes:
  • Device History: TinyUmbrella will remember device information of devices that have connected so that saving SHSH's for those devices in the future no longer requires you to connect the device.
  • Save All SHSH's Available "On-File" at Cydia: TinyUmbrella will now automatically check Cydia for ALL SHSHs for the connected device (or device from history :) )
  • TinyUmbrella will also help you detect what application is running on your computer that is taking up port 80 and will give you the option to kill that application. This should help many of you that don't know what application may be listening on port 80 (ie. Skype)
  • TinyUmbrella will also tell you what firmware versions you can safely downgrade or restore to whenever you connect the device (or select a device from history)
  • TinyUmbrella will be sporting a cleaner UI based on some of the great suggestions from @chpwn (a friend and fellow chronic dev team associate)
  • Support for PowerPC and more stable runtime for folks having problems running TinyUmbrella for odd and various reasons.
Big ones:
  • Activation Support: I've started looking into the way the phone requests (and obtains) activation from apple's servers. I'm confident I can duplicate this process but I have more investigation as the the process is incredibly complicated.
  • Full Restore Support without iTunes: I'm looking at implementing my own complete restore mechanism. I have not decided if I'll directly use @p0sixninja's libirestore or whether I'll try to do something that hasn't been done before... ie in java :)
Stay tuned and we will keep you informed!

In my opinion, if Apple will introduces iWatch next week, it will kill the iPod. In brief, Why people should buy a heavy iPod and put it somewhere in pockets to listen for music while running or studying Although iWatch may do this, in addition to a clock, handy worn, and lighter. All what I can say, Let's wait!

New Rumors of Square iPod Touch 4G Next Week With 3G Access, Also iLife on the Table

The reports claims to the possibility offering 3G cellular data access in the new iPod nano. With today's report, rumors of a major update to iLife and all of its applications on the table.
People familiar with the matter indicated that the size and shape of the device, revealed this week through photos of third-party cases, will be more akin to the iPod shuffle than the current-generation iPod nano. Even with this small size, however, it is expected to have a traditional iPod dock connector, allowing compatibility with the existing iPod accessory ecosystem.

The new iPod nano is said to utilize a tiny 3cm-by-3cm display that was revealed in its bare form as unknown Apple-branded component earlier this summer. For comparison, the second-generation iPod nano had a screen that was about 3cm by 2.5cm.
From the report above, the new iPod touch 4G is said to be tiny 3cm x 3cm display, in brief a smaller square design. Heavy Criticism For Android By Joe Hewitt [Report]

We have spoken several times about Joe Hewitt, the developer who created the Facebook application for iOS. The developer has recently criticized the system of approving app adopted by Apple, calling it "too restrictive". His complaints, however focus now on Google and its operating system Android, which decided to bet on for some time.
Development tools are horrible and the operating system is repugnant. If the IDE for Android was for only 10% similar to Xcode 4 I'd be happy.
According to the developer, the lack of control over the applications downloaded through the Android Market is the only point in favor of such a platform. Hewitt also compares the creation of Google to Windows, even criticizing the chosen language for programming software:
More work with Android, the more it reminds me of Windows. It is very flexible, agnostic and designed with developers in mind but it is really inconsistent in terms of user interface.
Google would not solve the problems of fragmentation and the use of Java for building an application seems not to be appreciated by the developers.
The Droid X is not a good phone. Keep your balance on your iPhone.
They could not finally miss the insults known AMOLED display, again this is according to the developer, "suck". Finally to you the word.
